(English version) The U.I.C.C. (Italian Union of Film Societies) is one of the nine National Associations of cinematographic culture recognized by the Ministry for Cultural Properties and Activities in Italy. Established in 1951, by will of Roberto Rossellini and others, it is statutorily characterized by its being apolitical, independent of any party and non-denominational. It is present in Italy with about a hundred film societies (cinéclubs) operating in nearly all regions. The Uicc was founded with the priority institutional purpose, also recognized by the laws in force on the matter, of promoting cinematographic culture through its own supporting member societies (cinéclubs) on the national territory, so that the societies themselves can represent the starting point and, at the same time the ultimate destination of their own supporting activities: logistic, informative, legal, fiscal and economic, directly and indirectly. It is due to this that any single realised project or event is in the point of view of offering greater potentialities to its clubs, also through the economic contributions to some non-ordinary activities of its members. At the same time, the clubs receive a greater visibility with their audiences and wider negotiation capabilities with local administration and authorities. The activity of the Union therefore is marked by the attention, both in the form of economic and organizational collaboration to the projects of its associated clubs, and for the services and work instruments, always and anyway reserved to the cultural operators forming its assembly base. The central initiatives, such as the Film Distribution, the Film Catalogue, the Uicc website or the Didactic activity are intended to bring further opportunities and/or services to its members, both directly and indirectly. Moreover, starting from 2006, the Uicc has undertaken new forms of economic collaboration to the activities planned and realised by clubs in their territories, in exact response to the criteria defined by the Ministry for Cultural Properties and Activities, prizing those projects that better meet the exigency of promoting cinematographic culture, with a special attention to Italian and European productions, in the areas and realities in which it is particularly lacking.
